It is significant for GaDaŋme to exalt and adore the excellence of Lawyer Yaw Anokye Frimpong for his bold, articulate, and consistent defense of the Ga-Daŋme contribution to Ghana’s nationhood — in ways that even many GaDaŋme scholars have not done.
The GaDangme people have played a foundational role in Ghana’s history, culture, and development: from hosting the nation’s capital, Accra, to nurturing education, commerce, politics, and the struggle for independence. Yet, too often, these contributions have been overlooked, misrepresented, or underemphasized, even by our own intellectuals and professors.
In recent times, however, Lawyer Yaw Anokye Frimpong — an Akan by birth — has stood out as a rare voice of clarity and courage. He has consistently highlighted and defended the role of Ga-Daŋme in Ghana’s national story. Where others remain silent or cautious, he speaks with conviction and evidence, ensuring that our heritage is neither erased nor diminished.
As an honest histologist of truth, Lawyer Frimpong continually affirms the cultural pride of GaDaŋme. His advocacy strengthens the dignity and self-worth of GaDaŋme youth who yearn to see their heritage respected and celebrated.
He has also reminded the nation of the immense sacrifices and contributions of the Ga-Daŋme people — in land, in the capital, in commerce, in revenue, in education, and in politics. He dares to say what must be said, bridging gaps between Ga-Daŋme history and that of other Akan states, while identifying shared values and affirming Ga-Daŋme as reliable nation builders.
In short, Lawyer Yaw Anokye Frimpong has done for the Ga story what many professors, academics, and elites have not: he has told it boldly, defended it publicly, and connected it meaningfully to Ghana’s development. In doing so, he has also elevated the relevance of Ga-Daŋme chieftaincy as a custodian of culture and truth.
Therefore, I call on the Chiefs and People of the Ga and Daŋme State, in the spirit of our ancestral values of truth (gbɛi), unity (ntsumɔ), and dignity (shikpon), to honor Lawyer Yaw Anokye Frimpong with the noble title: ASAFOATSE KPATAMƆ (Pacifist — one who opposes war and promotes peace through truth).
This honor is richly deserved for his steadfast support of Ga-Daŋme causes, his advocacy for cultural inclusion, respect, and equity, his protection of indigenous rights, and his bridge-building spirit that fosters harmony and cooperation across ethnic lines in service of national unity.
May such recognition serve as a lasting symbol of Ga-Daŋme gratitude, and a call to others to emulate Lawyer Yaw Anokyere Frimpong’s shining example.
