Naa Amorkor Shikafutsuru I, Asere Amartse We Manye, launched a multi-school computer lab initiative at Bukom Park on August 8, 2026, aimed at curbing high rates of ICT illiteracy among students in the Ga Traditional Area starting with Sempe School.
The initiative aims to construct and equip modern computer laboratories across all basic schools within the Ga state. Speaking at the launch event, the Queen Mother warned that local students risk falling behind in an increasingly digital global economy without immediate access to practical IT education.
“The world finds itself in a global village now, and our children must be equipped to meet the demands of today’s world,” Naa Amorkor Shikafutsuru I said, emphasizing that early access to technology is critical for shaping students’ career prospects and problem-solving abilities.
To ensure the rollout reaches every targeted school across the region, she called on corporate organizations, non-governmental organizations, traditional leaders, and private donors to partner with the project through funding and equipment donations.
School administrators and local leaders commended the drive, noting that hands-on ICT facilities will address long-standing gaps where many pupils learn computer science purely through textbooks without ever using a computer.
