The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Bomah, has extended a helping hand to traders devastated by a recent fire outbreak at Adum PZ in Kumasi. During a visit to the affected area on Monday, the MP donated GH₵50,000 in cash and 200 bags of cement to support the recovery efforts of over 10,000 traders whose livelihoods were upended by the disaster.
Accompanied by the MP for Subin Constituency, Kofi Obiri Yeboah, who guided him through the fire-ravaged site, Mr. Bomah’s gesture was bolstered by the presence of New Patriotic Party (NPP) regional executives and constituency chairmen. The donation is part of a broader wave of assistance from political figures and philanthropists aiming to alleviate the suffering caused by the blaze.
Visibly moved by the scale of destruction, Mr. Bomah expressed his sympathies to the traders and pledged an additional GH₵50,000 to be provided once the market’s redevelopment begins. Addressing the affected business owners, he offered words of hope, stating, “A situation like this is when love is demonstrated the most.” He underscored the need for solidarity among the traders as they navigate this difficult period.
The Okaikwei Central MP also called on those managing donations to uphold transparency and ensure that aid is delivered directly to the victims. His contribution marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to rebuild the Adum PZ market and restore normalcy for the thousands impacted by the tragedy.
