Ghana Forestry Commission’s Failure to Effect 4 Job Revocations Breeds Tension

Tension is brewing at the Forestry Commission (FC) in Ghana due to allegations that the new CEO, Dr. Hugh Brown, is refusing to revoke the “illegal promotions” of four officers. These officers were promoted to director positions by the Public Services Commission (PSC) without the required approval from then-President Nana Akufo-Addo .
The promotions were later revoked, but it seems that Dr. Brown is not taking action to implement this decision, leaving some staff members feeling frustrated and uncertain about the situation.

Dr. Brown, who was appointed by President John Dramani Mahama, has been praised by stakeholders in the timber industry for his knowledge and passion for the sector.
However, his alleged inaction on this matter is causing concern among some staff members.

It’s worth noting that the Forestry Commission has a complex structure, with various departments and directors, including Dr. Joseph Boakye Esq., Executive Director, WD, and Anne Brown, Director, Human Resources ⁴. The situation highlights the need for clarity and transparency in the commission’s decision-making processes.
