The Chief of Asogli, Togbe Adzi-lakle Howusu III, has commended the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, for his dedication and exceptional leadership within the party and the country at large.
Speaking during a courtesy call by Hon. Asiedu Nketiah at the Asogli Palace, Togbe Howusu described the NDC Chairman’s leadership journey as remarkable, highlighting his consistent service and strong connection with the grassroots.
“Your victory in 2009 as the party’s General Secretary was impressive, but your massive win as National Chairman was even more remarkable,” the chief stated, adding that Mr. Asiedu Nketiah’s leadership continues to inspire both party members and Ghanaians.
Togbe Howusu urged the NDC Chairman to remain steadfast in his commitment to unity and grassroots mobilization, describing such engagement as essential for national development and party growth. He expressed confidence that Mr. Asiedu Nketiah’s approach to leadership would help strengthen the bond between political leaders and the people.
In response, Hon. Asiedu Nketiah reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining close contact with citizens across the country, emphasizing that his leadership style is rooted in direct engagement.
“I am a field Chairman; I must be in touch with the people at all times, while they are also in touch with me,” he said.
He also highlighted the importance of reconnecting governance with the people, drawing lessons from former President Jerry John Rawlings’ outreach model.
“If we are resetting this country, we must reset it the way President JJ Rawlings did — by consistently engaging the grassroots through outreach services,” he added, noting that he would push for this approach to be adopted within government and cabinet discussions.
The meeting at the Asogli Palace formed part of Hon. Asiedu Nketiah’s ongoing regional engagements aimed at deepening relationships between the NDC leadership and traditional authorities, while reinforcing the party’s commitment to community-centered governance.
