The President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Abraham Kotei Neequaye, has assured boxing stakeholders that the upcoming elections on July 12, 2025, will be clean, free, and fair. Speaking in an exclusive interview, Neequaye emphasized that the GBA is committed to transparency and accountability, and he is confident about his track record.
Accountability and Transparency
Neequaye highlighted the GBA’s achievements, including the introduction of the Boxing League, provision of brand new cars to boxers and clubs, insurance for boxers, and renovation of the GBA office. He acknowledged that, like any human endeavor, there may be some mistakes or issues, but emphasized that the GBA is committed to transparency and accountability.
Engagement with Stakeholders
The GBA has also responded to concerns raised by the Committee for Professional Boxing Stakeholders (CPBS) regarding the elective congress date and demands for accountability. Neequaye assured that the GBA is open to discussions with stakeholders and will invite CPBS representatives to engage in constructive dialogue.
Election Preparations
The GBA President emphasized that the July 12 election date stands unless otherwise decided through due process. He encouraged all contestants to participate, assuring that no one will be disqualified. Neequaye expressed confidence in his popularity and the GBA’s achievements, stating that he is not afraid of his competitors.
The GBA’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and fair elections is set to be put to the test on July 12, 2025.
