Ghanaian music executive Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, widely known as Bulldog, has opened up about his legal victory against dancehall artist Shatta Wale, which ultimately led to an apology from the musician.
During an appearance on the May 3rd, 2025 edition of United Showbiz, Bulldog shared that the dispute with Shatta Wale was resolved in 2023. However, in true Shatta Wale style, the artist hesitated to fulfill his obligations until recently.
Bulldog, who previously managed Shatta Wale and has been a close associate of the self-proclaimed dancehall king, faced serious allegations from Wale regarding the death of late Ghanaian music executive Fennec Okyere. During a heated exchange, Shatta Wale accused Bulldog of confessing to being involved in the murder and threatened to report him to the authorities.
In response, Bulldog took legal action, suing Wale for defamation and seeking GHC 1 million in damages. Reflecting on the legal proceedings, Bulldog recounted that shortly after filing the lawsuit, Shatta Wale and his legal team approached the court seeking an out-of-court settlement. Although initially hesitant, Bulldog revealed that Wale enlisted the help of influential figures in Ghana to persuade him to consider the settlement.
After several discussions, both parties reached a mutually agreeable settlement, which was presented to and approved by the court in 2023. The terms included Shatta Wale issuing an unreserved apology to Bulldog and covering his legal expenses.
However, in a familiar pattern, Wale delayed fulfilling the terms of the agreement for nearly two years. Bulldog disclosed that it was only last week, under pressure from his legal team, that Wale finally issued the apology. He also noted that Wale has yet to settle the outstanding legal fees, which remains the final step before he considers the matter resolved.
In closing, Bulldog emphasized that he has never harbored any ill feelings towards Shatta Wale and that his legal action was not intended to punish his former artist but rather to clear his name from the damaging accusations.
