Kwame Baffoe, known as Abronye DC and the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has openly criticized the recent attempts by the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, commonly referred to as Chairman Wontumi, to mediate peace within the party.
Abronye asserted that the tension between him and former presidential candidate Kennedy Agyapong is not a new development, but rather a culmination of unresolved issues that have persisted over time. He highlighted the disrespectful actions of Agyapong’s associates following the 2024 elections, which he claims have exacerbated the internal rifts by undermining Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, a prominent leader within the NPP.
He emphasized that his remarks regarding Agyapong were not intended as personal attacks but were aimed at countering misinformation and safeguarding the party’s reputation.
Abronye urged Chairman Wontumi to take action against those affiliated with Agyapong who continue to disparage Bawumia on social media. He questioned, “How can one person within the party silence everyone?”
During an interview on Wontumi TV on May 7, 2025, Abronye made it clear that he would not support calls for tranquility unless the provocations against Bawumia came to an end. He called on party leadership to pay attention to social media interactions that contribute to division, stressing that any peace initiatives would only be effective if all parties involved are held accountable.
