The Ghana Police Service has debunked widespread rumours suggesting that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has passed away.
In a statement, the Service said its attention had been drawn to false reports circulating on social media alleging the death of the IGP.
“We wish to categorically state that these reports are false. The IGP is alive and well and going about his duties as expected,” the statement clarified.
The Police Service urged officers, family members, loved ones, and the general public to disregard the rumours.
It further cautioned individuals behind what it described as “malicious, insensitive, and reckless claims,” reminding the public that spreading disinformation is an offence and that perpetrators will face the law when identified.
