GaDangme Pressure Groups Allege Sabotage in GRA Probe of Bills Micro-Credit Founder

Accra, March 25, 2025 – The Coalition of GaDangme Pressure Groups has accused the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) of orchestrating a targeted campaign against Richard Nii Armah Quaye, the founder of Bills Micro-Credit, under the pretext of a personal income tax investigation. In a strongly worded press release, the coalition described the probe as an attempt to sabotage successful GaDangme businessmen.
The GRA’s sudden focus on Quaye’s tax status has raised eyebrows, particularly due to its timing. According to the coalition, the investigation comes on the heels of Quaye’s widely publicized 40th birthday celebration, despite years of what they claim has been transparent and compliant tax practices by the entrepreneur. “It is highly questionable that no concerns were raised until after this event,” the release stated, suggesting the probe may be motivated by factors beyond tax enforcement.
Led by Nii Ayitey Armah, the coalition emphasized their respect for the GRA’s mandate but warned against any perceived bias or harassment. “We categorically reject any form of targeted harassment under the guise of regulation,” the statement read. They called for fairness and impartiality in the GRA’s operations, cautioning that deviations would expose systemic efforts to stifle indigenous business growth.
While affirming Quaye’s commitment to cooperating with authorities, the coalition vowed to protect his reputation and rights. “Should this probe be driven by ulterior motives rather than genuine regulatory concerns, we are prepared to pursue all necessary legal avenues,” they declared.
The controversy has sparked debate about the treatment of GaDangme entrepreneurs in Ghana’s business landscape, with the coalition positioning itself as a staunch defender of their interests. As the situation unfolds, all eyes will be on the GRA’s next steps and whether this investigation signals a broader pattern of scrutiny.
