Ghana has lost a business icon with the passing of Alhaji Asoma Banda, a highly respected entrepreneur, business magnate, and philanthropist. The news of his demise was announced by Nigerian publisher Dele Momodu, who expressed his condolences to the late businessman’s family.
Alhaji Banda, born in June 1933, was the Chairman of Antrak Air, a fully Ghanaian-owned airline that played a significant role in the country’s aviation industry. He had reportedly been battling an illness in recent years, but details surrounding his passing remain undisclosed.
Dele Momodu, who had a close relationship with Alhaji Banda’s family, revealed that he had spoken to the late businessman’s widow, Mrs. Edwina Baaba Banda, to offer his sympathies. In a Facebook post, Momodu described Alhaji Banda as a “father figure” to him and prayed for Allah to forgive his sins and grant him Aljanah Firdaus.
