National Security in Ghana has made a massive bust, seizing a large amount of US dollars and Ghana Cedis, including counterfeits, from twelve 20ft shipping containers. The containers were tracked to a warehouse in Sapeiman, Ga South Municipality, where a late-night operation was conducted on Saturday after a tip-off .
The concealed currency, mostly bundles of US dollars, was found in wooden boxes covered with cement. Additional currencies, suspected to be counterfeit, were discovered in boxes sealed with plywood and covered with charcoal. Other items retrieved from the warehouse included boxes of metals suspected to be gold bars, counterfeit Ghana cedi notes, and fake Ghana Army uniforms and boots.
Two containers are still unaccounted for, but National Security operatives are tracking them. A manhunt is underway for four individuals, including the suspected ringleader, known as Alhaji. Suspects linked to the case are currently on the run.
