Two arrested over viral TikTok video threatening Mahama, First Lady

The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into a viral TikTok video in which a man is heard issuing threats against former President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady.

In an official statement, the Police confirmed that the video, which has been widely circulated on social media, contains remarks considered to be threats to the lives of the former President and his spouse.

So far, two individuals, Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu have been arrested and are currently in police custody, assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Authorities say efforts are underway to identify and apprehend additional individuals believed to be connected to the creation and distribution of the video.

“The two suspects, Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu, are currently in custody assisting with the investigation, while efforts continue to locate other persons believed to be involved,” the statement added.

The Police Service also reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the security of the former President, the First Lady, and all citizens. The public has been urged to refrain from making or sharing content that could incite violence or threaten public safety.
