The ‘Beloved Charlie” of Ghana, God Fearing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

Team Kweku Kyere must cease portraying Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a political villain. Political discourse must return to substance rather than spectacle. I have consistently maintained that Dr. Bawumia remains one of the most talented, blameless and unblemished politicians not only in Ghana but across Africa. The overwhelming support he received from delegates is not accidental; it reflects confidence in his leadership, character, and competence, despite sustained vilification. Indeed, “The moon does not heed the barking of dogs.” Noise does not diminish light.

The claim that Kweku Kyere is the more preferred candidate among the general populace lacks empirical backing. It remains rhetorically attractive yet analytically hollow. Where is the data? Where is the credible survey architecture? There is no credible scientific analysis to substantiate such an assertion. It is not by mere talk that greatness is proven, but by evidence within. On the contrary, available indicators suggest that Dr. Bawumia continues to enjoy broad appeal and goodwill. His endorsement by delegates demonstrates that neither financial inducement nor political propaganda determined the outcome; rather, it was conviction and trust. For as Scripture declares, “Wisdom is proved right by her deeds.”

Unlike others whose public posture fluctuates with political convenience. Dr. Bawumia has, over time, cultivated a public persona aligned with presidential temperament measured speech, technocratic depth, and institutional loyalty. His critics may challenge his policies, but few can persuasively indict his personal integrity. In an era where political capital is often eroded by scandal, the relative absence of blemish is itself a significant credential. His political journey reflects discipline, restraint, and a commitment to national development. The delegates’ decision affirms that integrity, vision, and competence still matter in leadership selection. After all, “The tree that bears good fruit does not fear the season.”

Despite intense criticism, hostile rhetoric, spiritual and prophetic accusations, and relentless opposition, Dr. Bawumia’s political standing has endured. History has repeatedly shown that when purpose aligns with perseverance, opposition cannot overturn destiny. As another African proverb teaches, “No matter how long the night, the day is sure to come.”

Dr. Bawumia’s faith, moral discipline, and reverence for God remain central to his public life. For many, these qualities combined with his experience and competence form the basis of confidence in his leadership. “When God builds, no man can tear down,” and when conviction is rooted in principle, it cannot be shaken by clamor. Those who believe in his vision see in him a leader prepared to guide Ghana with wisdom, courage, and conviction.
