Stop This Cheap Talk: “Bawumia Is an Outsider”, Loyalty Is Earned, Not Inherited

To those spreading the cheap talk that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is an outsider who doesn’t deserve the main seat, bow your heads in shame. Were you born NPP? Did you come waving the party flag from your mother’s womb? Let’s be honest, none of us were born NPP. We chose this path. Some of us bled for it. Some were beaten for it. I was one of them.

Back in the early ’90s, my family were staunch NDC supporters. But I stood for what I believed in. I joined the “Kume Preko” demonstration and for that, my own uncle sent NDC militia men after me. They beat me for daring to think differently. He told me NPP would never help me, that I was wasting my time. But I stayed. I stayed because I believed in something bigger than myself.

Fast forward to today, I’m still NPP. Not because of riches or rewards or I’ve gained fame or favors. I have nothing to show materially but my conviction. I stayed because I believe in the dream of building Ghana with seeable vision and the party’s agenda for national transformation. I believe in leadership anchored in integrity, intellect, and innovation.

So when I hear people questioning Bawumia’s loyalty, I laugh. Wether he was once outside the fold or wasn’t born into the party. So what? What matters is what he’s done since joining. And let’s be honest! Bawumia has done more for NPP and for Ghana than most of the noise-makers calling him an outsider. His record as Vice President speaks louder than any party card. And politics is all about self indulgence, emotional connection and numerical strength, so stop this auditory noises to descending minds whose thoughts are already a strong, fiery, and authentic for Dr Bawumia. You can’t capture the tone of the grassroots NPP loyalist, who by standing up for fairness always earned Bawumia’s loyalty.

And for those who think they’re “more NPP” than Bawumia like Owusu Bempah and his ever-running spear-like mouth, let me ask: what have you done for Ghana lately?

Dr. Bawumia deserves the flagbearer seat, not because he was born into NPP, but because he earned it. Just like the rest of us who chose this path, stood our ground, and stayed loyal through the storm. So You Shut Up! If you can’t make elegant analysis or statement.
