SAKUMOR WULOMO NEVER ADORNED GEORGE TACKIE WITH GA MAŊTSƐ AFILI AS HE CLAIMED

In a recent public statement, Nii Ogbarmey Mensah III, the head of the Sakumor We (family), firmly rejected claims made by George Tackie regarding his supposed recognition as the Ga Mantse, the traditional king of the Ga State. The assertion has sparked controversy and confusion within the community, prompting officials to clarify the rightful lineage and authority of the current King.

Nii Ogbarmey Mensah III emphasized that George Tackie was never adorned with the wrist bangle of authority, known as “afili,” which is a significant symbol of kingship among the Ga people by Numo Ogbamey, Sakumor Wulɔmɔ. He urged the public to disregard any claims made by individuals falsely presenting themselves as the Ga Mantse, asserting that such claims are unfounded and lack legitimacy.

“King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II is the only person ‘Sakumor Tsonshie’ have installed as Ga Mantse,” declared Nii Ogbarmey Mensah III. “He is the only one who has gone through the entire traditional rites, and he is the one we are officially working with.”

The Sakumor We has played a pivotal role in the installation of the Ga Mantse. According to Nii Ogbarmey Mensah, the wrist bangle of authority was ceremoniously placed on King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II by Nuumo Ogbarmey III, the Sakumor Wulomo (Sakumor Priest), in a traditional ceremony conducted under the auspices of Nii Tetteh Kwei, the principal kingmaker responsible for the selection of the king.

The controversy surrounding George Tackie’s claims has raised questions about the integrity of the traditional leadership structure within the Ga State. Nii Ogbarmey Mensah III’s statements serve as a reminder of the importance of adhering to established customs and traditions when it comes to leadership in the community.

As the Ga State navigates this period of uncertainty, the Sakumor family remains steadfast in their support for King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, urging the public to respect and recognize the legitimacy of the current king. The family’s commitment to preserving the integrity of their traditions is evident as they call for unity and respect for the rightful authority in the Ga State.

The community is encouraged to remain vigilant against misinformation and to support the established leadership as they work towards maintaining peace and stability in the region.
