Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh Launches National Prayer Rally to “Stop the Nonsense” and Restore Ghana

Accra, April 29, 2025 — Renowned evangelist and President of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach (WMO), Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, has announced the launch of a 10-day non-denominational National Prayer Rally, calling on Ghanaians to unite in fervent prayer to address what he describes as the “nonsense” plaguing the country.

At a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, Rev. Dr. Tetteh declared that the rally, which runs from May 1 to May 11 at 6 p.m. daily, will be held under the bold theme: “This Nonsense Must Stop.” The event aims to bring together Christians, Muslims, and other faiths in a nationwide spiritual awakening to combat the moral, social, and economic crises facing Ghana.

“The nonsense is everywhere—in our politics, education, health sector, families, and even our religious institutions,” he said. “We are grappling with absurd situations that threaten the very foundation of our nation, and it is time we sought divine intervention.”

Rev. Tetteh pointed to widespread issues including political disunity, illegal mining (galamsey), corruption, moral decay, and a rising culture of indiscipline as key reasons why Ghanaians must turn to prayer. He criticized the erosion of national values and called on the clergy, traditional authorities, youth, and civil society to rise above partisan interests and lead efforts to restore unity and integrity in the country.

Highlighting the pressing need for national healing, he quoted 2 Chronicles 7:14, emphasizing that Ghana must humble itself, pray, and seek God’s guidance: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray… I will heal their land.”

National Unity and Cohesion:
Rev. Tetteh urged all Ghanaians to rise above political, tribal, and religious divisions post-2024 elections. He called for peace in conflict-prone areas like Bawku and stressed the need for transparency in resolving national issues, including recent controversies surrounding the judiciary.

Galamsey and Environmental Degradation:
Describing illegal mining as a national shame, he condemned the ongoing destruction of water bodies and questioned the silence of security agencies and traditional authorities.

Corruption, Favoritism, and Nepotism:
Labeling these as a national security threat, he criticized the inability of successive governments to tackle corruption effectively and called for urgent reforms and accountability.

LGBTQ++ Debate:
Rev. Tetteh strongly opposed what he called the politicization of LGBTQ+ issues, warning against foreign influence on Ghana’s cultural and moral values.

Rev. Dr. Tetteh concluded with a passionate appeal to Ghanaians of all backgrounds to participate in the prayer rally:
“This is a critical time for our nation. Politics alone cannot save Ghana. We must seek the finger of God to direct us. A prayerless nation is a powerless nation.”

The National Prayer Rally is expected to draw thousands of worshippers across denominations, as faith leaders and concerned citizens gather in unity to pray for Ghana’s redemption and restoration.
