President Mahama Reiterates Stance on Traditional Family Values

Accra, Ghana – President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to traditional family values, stating that there are only two genders – man and woman – and that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Speaking at a clergy fellowship in Accra on Friday, February 28, 2025, Mahama emphasized his belief in the fundamental principles of Ghanaian society. His remarks drew nods of approval from the religious leaders in attendance.

Mahama also revealed ongoing consultations with the Speaker of Parliament to reintroduce the Proper Family Values Bill, which seeks to prohibit LGBTQ+ activities in the country. The bill, previously passed by the eighth Parliament, did not receive presidential assent under President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration.

In addition to his stance on social and moral issues, Mahama addressed Ghana’s economic challenges, outlining his administration’s commitment to restoring stability and creating jobs. He emphasized the need to stabilize the economy, restore confidence in Ghana, and attract investors.

Mahama also highlighted his 24-hour economy policy, aimed at creating jobs in business development, agriculture, agribusiness, and manufacturing. He emphasized the importance of aggressive interventions in the agricultural sector to ensure a prosperous future.

In conclusion, Mahama called for unity and prayer, quoting Ecclesiastes 9:11 and emphasizing the role of divine guidance in leadership. He urged religious leaders to continue supporting his administration with prayers and moral counsel
