A pastor, Cris Karl Ofori, has been put before the Dansoman Circuit Court for allegedly defrauding a businessman of GH¢310,000. Ofori, a branch pastor of a charismatic church in Tema, is accused of collecting the amount from the complainant under the pretext of assisting him in securing visas for himself and his family.
The complainant, Amadu Seidu, a resident of Sampa in the Bono Region, had expressed his intention to travel to Canada with his family in 2023. Ofori was introduced to him as someone who could assist with the visa acquisition process. However, after collecting the money, Ofori informed Seidu that he had obtained visas for the UK instead of Canada.
Ofori has been charged with defrauding by false pretences and has pleaded not guilty. He was granted bail in the sum of GH¢350,000 with three sureties, and the case has been adjourned to April 25, 2025.
