Nii Tackie Adama Latse II has officially withdrawn his longstanding suit challenging Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II’s claim to the Ga Mantse stool. This decision follows a recent ruling by the Court of Appeal in Kumasi, which ordered the reinstatement of Nii Adama Latse II’s name in the National Register of Chiefs.
The case, pending before the Judicial Committee of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs since 2019, has seen little progress, with no witnesses having been cross-examined to date.
A spokesperson for Nii Adama Latse II expressed frustration over the delays, stating, “The current suit, which we are withdrawing with immediate effect, was filed against Teiko Tsuru […] but no witness has even been cross-examined till today. How can a case stall since 2019? Clearly, the House has no interest in hearing the case. We will not give you any avenue to say there’s a pending case at Dodowa.”
The spokesperson added that Nii Teiko Tsuru is free to pursue legal action if he has any grievances regarding the matter.
The suit, identified as GARHC/P2/2019, involved several respondents, including Dr. Kelvin Tackie (Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II), Nii Agyemang Kesse II, Dr. Nii Tetteh Kwei II, and Nii Dodoo Nsaki II. The withdrawal marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing chieftaincy issues within the Ga community, which have historically been contentious. The implications for the future of the Ga Mantse stool and the broader chieftaincy landscape in Ghana remain to be seen.
