The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has pledged its full support for the inaugural Tour Du Ghana cycling race, scheduled to take place from November 13 to 24, 2025. The Ministry’s Chief Director, Mrs. Wilhelmina Asamoah, confirmed the endorsement during a meeting with a delegation from the Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF) led by Secretary General Shaaban Mohammed.
Comprehensive Planning and Organization
The Ministry will collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Ghana Olympic Committee, and the GCF, to ensure the event’s success. The multi-stage race will traverse the Greater Accra, Volta, and Oti Regions, showcasing key districts and communities.
Cultural Integration and Sponsorship
The event aims to promote Ghanaian heritage and showcase the “Black Star Experience.” Several sponsors have confirmed their participation, including DOT Ateliers, Stanbic Bank, MTN, Prudential Life Insurance, and others. Plans are underway for President John Dramani Mahama to flag off the race in Accra.
Call for Regular Updates
The Ministry has directed the GCF to provide regular updates to enable timely support and oversight of the event. The GCF Secretary General, Shaaban Mohammed, urged the Ministry to help make the event unforgettable.
The Tour Du Ghana cycling race promises to be a major sporting event in Ghana’s calendar, promoting cycling, tourism, and national pride.
