McDan Mourns Close Friend involved in Air Force Helicopter Crash

Philanthropist and Founder/Chairman of the McDan Group, Dr. Daniel McKorley, has visited the family of the late Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, one of the eight people who perished in the recent Ghana Air Force helicopter crash.

The visit, marked by deep emotion, saw Dr. McKorley offer condolences and material support to the grieving family, along with supplies to assist with funeral arrangements.

Reflecting on their bond, he said:

“I am from this town. He was more than a friend; he was a brother. When I acquired my first helicopter, he was the first person I called. Every time I visited the Air Force Station, he was there waiting for me. It’s painful to stand here today knowing he is gone. I trust that God knows why things happen the way they do.”

On Friday, 8th August 2025, Dr. McKorley also joined dignitaries at Jubilee House to lay flowers in honour of all victims of the crash — part of the nation’s 3-day mourning period.

The tragic accident on Wednesday, 6th August 2025, claimed the lives of senior government officials, military personnel, and civilians. Sgt. Addo Mensah is remembered for his dedicated service to Ghana and the lasting friendships he built throughout his career.
