Ghana’s Garden City, Kumasi, came to a dramatic standstill on Saturday night as Africa’s rap king, Sarkodie, elevated his iconic Rapperholic Concert to new heights.
Thousands of passionate fans braved heavy rains and flocked to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, witnessing what many described one of the most patronised events in Ghana’s entertainment history.

Despite the relentless downpour, Sarkodie’s loyal fanbase was unperturbed. Determined to be part of history, many made their way into the stadium,by any means necessary.
The show, powered by Momo Fest 2025, scheduled to begin later in the evening and run into the early hours of the morning, saw fans queuing as early as 4 p.m.
By nightfall, the stadium gates were packed, food vendors from the Momo Cashless Market and Fair were in full swing offering goods and services to patrons who could conveniently pay with MoMo.
The Rapperholic Concert also crowned Momo Fest which had been running in different parts of the country, designed to deepen financial inclusion, raise awareness about MoMo fraud prevention, and showcase how mobile money could make everyday transactions easier and more rewarding.
Even when security measures escalated to the use of what looked like tear gas in an attempt to control the crowd, it was not enough to stop the determined ticket holders from gaining entry. The desire to witness Sarkodie’s homecoming performance triumphed over every obstacle.
Once the show finally kicked off, the atmosphere was electric. The stadium was filled to capacity, yet more fans continued to push their way in.
A stellar lineup of performers including Medikal, Kofi Kinaata, Donzy, Kweku Smoke, and others kept the crowd energized. Anticipation peaked with the arrival of Dancehall King, Shatta Wale, who was also billed to perform.
But it was Sarkodie’s grand entrance that stole the night. With dazzling fireworks lighting up the sky and cheers echoing throughout the stadium, the rap icon took fans on a nostalgic musical journey. One of the night’s most emotional highlights came when he brought his mentor, Obrafour, on stage, creating a powerful moment of reflection and respect.
Longtime collaborator Efya joined Sarkodie for soulful performances of fan favorites like “I’m in Love with You” and “Saara”, captivating the audience.

The ultimate moment arrived when Shatta Wale joined Sarkodie on stage. Their unity and stage chemistry sent the crowd into a frenzy, marking a historic moment of camaraderie between two of Ghana’s biggest music giants.
Sarkodie’s performance was nothing short of extraordinary, showcasing not only his lyrical mastery but also impeccable stagecraft and sound quality that elevated the entire experience.
As the curtains finally fell around 4 a.m., fans exited the stadium buzzing with excitement and pride.
