The Executive Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr Malik Basintale, has addressed recent discussions surrounding the creation of two new mobile applications aimed at enhancing job avenues for the youth in Ghana.
In a statement, Mr Basintale offered clarity on the purpose and scope of these apps, emphasizing their roles in fostering job opportunities both locally and internationally.
According to Mr Basintale, the first app is designed specifically for artisans and skilled laborers, connecting individuals in need of services like plumbing, carpentry, tailoring, masonry and electrical work to qualified professionals.
This app he said, would operate both locally and abroad, aligning with the upcoming launch of YEA’s work abroad directorate.
He said, it was developed through a partnership between the public and private sectors.
YEA’s role, he explained, is to provide skilled laborers now and in the future, which is expected to create over 100,000 jobs in the informal sector, both within Ghana and internationally.
The second app, Basintale clarified, is a dedicated Job Center fully owned by YEA.
“This app will serve as a platform to connect job seekers with employers, making the job search process as simple and accessible as possible,” he mentioned.
“It is designed to be user-friendly, ensuring that even individuals with limited IT expertise can easily navigate the system. The app aims to serve job seekers across Ghana, helping them find employment opportunities on a daily basis,” he added.
In his statement, Mr Basintale also assured that the creation and operation of both apps come at no cost to the YEA, underscoring the agency’s commitment to fostering economic growth and employment opportunities for the youth.
These innovative initiatives he said, formed part of YEA’s ongoing efforts to address unemployment and enhance access to jobs for young people, both within Ghana and globally.
