The President John Dramani Mahama has directed a thorough investigation into allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering linked to two suspicious flights at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
The claims were raised by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South, during a press conference on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
In a statement shared on Facebook, President Mahama reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the issue with both transparency and urgency.
He has instructed key investigative agencies, including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator, to collaborate with Rev. Fordjour and thoroughly investigate the allegations.
The President assured the public that all necessary steps would be taken to uncover and combat drug trafficking. Highlighting the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward drug-related activities, President Mahama referenced a recent high-profile drug bust by the NIB, which resulted in the seizure of narcotics valued at $350 million.
Reaffirming Ghana’s stance against becoming a transit or destination point for illicit drugs, President Mahama stressed the importance of safeguarding the nation’s security and global reputation.
