LORD COMMEY’S PRIVATE PROPERTY ATTACKED

A group of armed men, some dressed in military uniforms, broke into the private property of Lord Commey, past Director of Operations at the Office of former President Nana Akufo-Addo, on Friday night. Eyewitnesses reported that the men arrived at the Dansoman-based property around 10 p.m. in a pick-up vehicle with registration number GW 4876-24. They forcibly entered the building, causing significant damage to the property. Although no casualties were reported, a two-minute, 17-second video surfaced on social media showing the men leaving the property, seemingly after completing their mission. The incident, which has been reported to the police, left local residents in shock and concerned for their safety and that of their property.

The Coalition of GaDangme Pressure Groups condemned the attack in a statement, calling on those responsible, whom they suspect to be affiliated with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), to be held accountable. “We strongly condemn this act of lawlessness that has increasingly marred our political landscape,” the statement read. “Even if the government or security agencies are aware of any unlawful activities by an individual, the law must be applied fairly, rather than resorting to illegal actions, as two wrongs do not make a right. “The group stressed the importance of following legal processes to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice, rather than taking matters into their own hands. “Those behind this shameful act should bow their heads in disgrace,” they added. The Coalition called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Greater Accra Regional Director of Police to intervene swiftly and resolve the matter.”As citizens of a democratic state, we expect the law to be applied equally and fairly,” the statement concluded.
