Irregular ways of going about things can be extremely detrimental to the success of any project such as growing your family, building your finances, growing your ministry, as well as your future. Undoubtedly, there are aeons of axioms and powerful quotes, by successful personalities, that corroborate that assertion Some of those are: A rolling stone gathers no moth.; Patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.” – Napoleon Hill; and many others.
l had a personal experience that occasioned this didactic piece of writing. In fact, that anecdote took place at a certain village where l am currently residing in. One day, my water tank ran out of water. So, l decided to go out of the house in order to use a public pumping tap which was owned by a very old woman: a cistern l had never used before. l placed my bucket under the tap, held the long mental bar and began pumping, one, two, three, and realising the water was not flowing, l paused. Perplexed that the water never flowed, l enquired from the old woman whether the water was dried up underground. She replied, My son, keep pumping, it will flow, just keep pumping”. l then resumed pumping for about five to six times and to my excitement, the water began gushing out. Gladly, l paid the old woman and left for home contemplating over the lessons l had just learnt about inconsistency.
The act of inconsistency stems from ignorance and impatience. Truth is, ignorant of the usage of that public pumping tap, l expected the water to instantly flow at the first pumping. But, Life teaches us differently. It is important to note, however, that your first, second or third attempt at any project does not guarantee instant results. They are necessary milestones that push us towards the ultimate outcome. Halting at several attempts renders all those attempts wasteful: a mistake which takes us back to start all over again. For laxity in activity yields no productivity. If you start a project or a business and it seems positive outcomes are not being chalked at the beginning, do not give up. Certainly, you are laying a foundation, gathering momentum, or building blocks. Keep the tempo, keep the pace and you will begin to marvel at the results.
Impatience also breeds inconsistency. A gold mine field was sold to a businessman. After digging for a very long time without seeing any gold, he became disappointed and discouraged and subsequently resold the field to another businessman. Unknown to the former, the digging was very close to the gold but he never had the patience to continue. After a digging or two by the second businessman, there lay the pieces of gold smiling at him. Fortunes had been won! All those atttemps by the previous man became wasteful to him. If he had had a little patience, those fortunes would have changed his world forever. Let’s be bold to ask questions about things we are ignorant of and be a little more patient in our various pursuits in life. For we might not know that our breakthroughs are just around the corner. Be informed, therefore, that ignorance and impatience are hurdles or hindrances to our success and growth in life. Thanks for reading.
