Senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, has issued a stark warning to his party, suggesting that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) could reclaim power in the 2028 elections with a new presidential candidate. He emphasised that this would likely result in the NPP remaining in opposition for at least the next 12 years unless the party swiftly addresses its internal challenges and implements crucial reforms.
In an interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Okay FM’s morning programme on May 19, Agyapong stressed the urgent need for unity, discipline, and a clear strategic direction within the NPP to avoid prolonged political stagnation.
He pointed out that the party is currently in disarray, particularly following the significant defeat it experienced in Ghana’s most recent general elections.
Agyapong further stated that for the party to regain its footing before the next four years catch up with them, numerous issues must be decisively addressed without delay. He warned that the current lack of cohesion within the party could hinder their chances of success in the 2028 elections unless these matters are promptly resolved.
