Government Set to Launch Nkoko Nkitinkiti Programme in October

Government under the leadership of President John mahama is set to unveil the highly anticipated Nkoko Nkitinkiti Programme in the first week of October, with plans at an advanced stage for an official launch by His Excellency the President.

This flagship initiative aims to revolutionize the country’s poultry industry by empowering local farmers and bridging the import gap.

According to the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, the programme’s revised launch date follows extensive stakeholder engagement and consultation, addressing concerns that led to the initial postponement of the July launch.

Speaking at the launch of the second phase of the West Africa Livestock Marketing Programme (PACBAO) in Accra, Hon.Opoku assured poultry farmers that the government is committed to honoring the new timeline.

“Plans are at an advanced stage, and it is expected that by the first week of October, His Excellency the President will officially launch the programme,” Opoku stated. “The media will be invited, after which distribution will begin across various constituencies to reach beneficiary farmers. We are finalizing the beneficiary list and completing procurement processes with contractors to supply the birds. Very soon, implementation will take off.”

The Nkoko Nkitinkiti Programme is designed to reduce Ghana’s heavy reliance on imported poultry, which costs the country over $300 million annually. Surely, by supporting domestic production, the Ministry aims to save foreign exchange, create sustainable jobs, and empower youth and women in rural communities.

With the programme’s launch imminent, stakeholders in the poultry industry are optimistic about the potential benefits, including increased local production, job creation, and improved food security. Comrades, as the government prepares to roll out this initiative, Ghanaians eagerly await the positive impact it is expected to have on the Ghana’s agricultural sector and economy.
