The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has announced its full support for the national men’s 4×100 relay team as they prepare to compete in the upcoming 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. The team, comprising top Ghanaian sprinters, will undergo a secluded training camp in Texas, USA, under the guidance of Coach George Pincock.
The GOC’s sponsorship of the team’s training camp is part of its broader efforts to enhance Team Ghana’s performance at the World Championships, scheduled to take place from September 13 to 21. The committee has called on corporate and state institutions to invest in the team, emphasizing the potential for success and the joy it would bring to Ghanaians.
The team includes notable athletes such as Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Benjamin Azamati, and Joe Paul Amoah, who will focus on fine-tuning their skills and perfecting baton exchange techniques ahead of the championships.
GOC President Richard Akpokavie expressed his excitement about supporting the relay team, citing their consistency and potential to make a strong impression on the world stage. He urged Ghanaians to rally behind the team, emphasizing that their success would bring national pride.
This support is part of the GOC’s ongoing initiatives to boost the performance of Ghanaian athletes internationally, following similar backing for various federations including armwrestling, badminton, and rugby.
