National supporters group the Ghana National Supporters Union (GHANSU) has responded to the national clarion call for supporting and helping one another with a massive blood donation exercise among its members held at the frontage of its national office at Tesano in Accra yesterday.
The exercise conducted by the National Blood Service drew over 100 members of GHANSU across the length and breadth of the country to the premises of its national head office in Accra.
Members were taken through some registration processes, conscientised on blood donation and some blood samples taken to be tested about their blood group and other adverse contaminations or infections.
They were later made to lie on specialised beds and their blood taken and kept in a safe for the national cause.
Important national call
The president of GHANSU Abraham Boakye alias ‘One Man Supporter’ told the Daily Graphic the blood donation is not only to support the national blood bank but to help save the lives of those who need blood to survive.
“We have some of our folks who are need blood infusion to survive and live;others need blood transfusion, we at GHANSU we want donate these bloods as our widows mite to help save lives,” he told the Daily Graphic.
He stressed that his outfit will continue to support the nation in which ever way they can adding that they are not only there to throw their weight behind sporting activities.
“GHANSU is primarily to support and sing for all sporting disciplines in the country but aside this core duties we are also ready for any national endeavour and support any national cause,” he stated.
He thanked Goil Ghana for sponsoring the exercise and pledged his outfit’s support for the national oil company.
Blood donation important
The organiser of the exercise and official of the National Blood Service, Felix Tetteh, told the Daily Graphic donating blood to save lives is a national duty calling on all Ghanaians to replicate the actions of GHANSU members.
He expressed gratitude to Mr Abraham Boakye and the GHANSU group for answering the clarion call to donate blood to help save lives.
