President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the eagerly anticipated ‘Big Push Programme’ will be launched next week, heralding a new era of infrastructure revitalization and economic resurgence in Ghana.
This flagship initiative, a cornerstone of the National Democratic Congress’s 2024 general election campaign, promises to galvanize the Ghana’s development trajectory.
During his inaugural meet-the-press session, President Mahama unveiled the programme’s first phase, which will focus on critical road infrastructure upgrades, backed by a colossal 14 billion Ghana cedis in funding. He lamented the precipitous decline in Ghana’s road infrastructure over the past eight years, underscoring the imperative need for the Big Push Programme to arrest this trend.
“The Ofanko and Sawambu roads, erstwhile chronically underfunded, have been seamlessly integrated into the Big Push programme, with a recent injection of nearly 1 billion cedis to facilitate expedited completion by the end of the second quarter of next year,” Mahama elaborated.
Reaffirming NDC administration’s commitment to the RESET agenda,Mahama underscored the sacrosanct principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance that will underpin the programme’s implementation.
“I remain resolute in my commitment to the promises I made to the Ghanaian people during the 2024 elections, as well as to the principles of honesty, transparency, and probity that define exemplary governance,” he declared.
With unyielding determination, Mahama emphasized this current administration’s resolve to lay the foundations for Ghana’s economic revival, institutional renewal, and enhanced public service delivery.
“I am resolute in my pursuit of economic recovery, resetting our institutions to reflect the demands of modern governance, and ensuring enhanced service delivery for every Ghanaian,” he stressed.
