Ghana’s national cycling team, the Golden Pedals, is set to take on the prestigious LA Route d’Lest International Cycling Tour in Côte d’Ivoire from April 8 to 12, 2025, thanks to a groundbreaking sponsorship from Dot Ateliers. At the helm of this ambitious endeavor is Shaaban Mohammed, Secretary General of the Ghana Cycling Federation, whose leadership has been instrumental in securing this opportunity for the team to shine on the global stage.
Dot Ateliers, a dynamic artistic hub dedicated to fostering creativity and supporting Ghana’s artistic community, has stepped up to sponsor the Golden Pedals, providing critical financial and logistical backing. This partnership ensures the nine-member delegation—comprising five cyclists and four officials—is fully equipped to compete against some of the world’s top athletes across Côte d’Ivoire’s challenging terrains.
Shaaban Mohammed’s pivotal role in orchestrating this effort cannot be overstated. As the delegation leader, he has worked tirelessly to align the team’s preparation with Dot Ateliers’ support, marking a significant milestone for Ghanaian cycling. “This is a proud moment for Ghana,” Mohammed said. “With Dot Ateliers’ backing, we’re not just competing—we’re showcasing the strength and spirit of our nation.”
The sponsorship reflects Dot Ateliers’ broader mission to champion homegrown talent, as highlighted by their spokesperson, Justice Awuku. “We believe in the power of sports to inspire and unite,” Awuku noted. “Supporting the Golden Pedals under Shaaban Mohammed’s leadership is a testament to our commitment to elevating Ghanaian excellence globally.”
The Ghana Cycling Federation has lauded Mohammed’s efforts in securing this partnership, with the organization calling on other corporate entities to follow Dot Ateliers’ example and invest in the nation’s sporting future. His strategic vision has propelled Ghana’s cycling profile forward, building on the team’s growing reputation in elite African competitions.
Joining Mohammed in the delegation are Justice Awuku, representing Dot Ateliers; Francis Obodai Sai, Team Manager; and Rudolf Mensah, Team Mechanic. The cyclists ready to represent Ghana include Victor Cudjoe Akpagli (Gladiators Cycling Club), Emmanuel Sesi (Royal Stars Cycling Club), Prince Love Adjei Quaye (TBT Cycling Club), and Francis Amo (2024 National Champion, FCG Cycling Club).
As the Golden Pedals prepare to fly Ghana’s flag high, the team has pledged to make their nation proud and return with medals. With Shaaban Mohammed steering the charge, their call for prayers and support from Ghanaians resonates as they embark on this international challenge.
