George “Stopper” Mensah’s Manager Signs Contract, Demands Worthy Opponents

By Kwame Larweh

Samuel Agyei Darkwah, manager of Ghana’s rising welterweight star George “Stopper” Mensah, has taken a bold step to secure his fighter’s future by signing a pivotal contract, while simultaneously lamenting the lack of worthy opponents for the world title hopeful in Ghana.
In an exclusive interview with Graphic Sports, Darkwah revealed that the newly signed agreement is part of his push to elevate Mensah’s career, but he expressed frustration over the scarcity of suitable challengers in the country. “Stopper is Ghana’s best hope of winning a world title again,” Darkwah declared, “but the absence of boxers willing to step into the ring with him is stalling his progress.”
With the contract now in place, Darkwah has called on the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) to establish a structured system for categorizing and matching boxers at designated times. He proposed strict enforcement, warning that boxers who refuse to comply could face bans. “If they’re confident in their skills, they should have no problem facing Stopper,” he challenged.
Darkwah also pushed for a clause in the contract framework requiring Ghanaian professional boxers to test themselves against top-tier opponents. He believes this will sharpen their skills and better prepare them to represent Ghana on the international stage.
Beyond the ring, Darkwah urged the GBA to leverage the contract signing as an opportunity to attract corporate sponsors and stakeholders, while appointing top-tier executives to manage the sport’s growth. With Mensah’s career now formally backed by this agreement, Darkwah is determined to see his fighter rise—and he’s demanding the competition to match.
