Fowl Play No More- Nkoko Nkitinkiti Project to Distribute 3 Million Birds

Government of Ghana under the leadership of President John Mahama is set to embark on an ambitious poultry initiative, the Nkoko Nkitinkiti project, aimed at bolstering food security, generating employment opportunities, and reducing the country’s reliance on imported chicken. Under this innovative program, three million birds will be distributed nationwide, with every constituency receiving 10,000 birds to support local farmers and households.

Agriculture Minister Eric Opoku highlighted the initiative’s potential to empower farmers across all constituencies, stating,

“This project will empower farmers across all constituencies with resources to expand poultry production and earn sustainable incomes.” The government anticipates that the Nkoko Nkitinkiti project will not only make poultry more affordable but also revitalize interest in domestic farming as a viable business venture.

To ensure the success of this initiative, officials will provide technical support alongside the distribution of birds, equipping farmers with the necessary expertise to raise them successfully.

This comprehensive approach underscores the government’s unrelenting commitment to strengthening the nation’s agricultural sector and promoting sustainable economic growth.
