Former South African President Jacob Zuma Visits Ga Traditional Council in Accra

Former President of the Republic of South Africa Jacob Zuma paid a courtesy visit to the Ga Traditional Council in Accra during a short trip to Ghana this week.

Zuma, who is in the country to address students and staff at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on South Africa’s experience within the Southern African Customs Union (SACU), called on King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II and the council’s paramount chiefs. The visit was described by organisers as a gesture of respect and cultural diplomacy.

The Ga Traditional Council, which oversees customary affairs for the Ga people in the Greater Accra Region, received the former president at its palace. Zuma’s programme in Ghana is focused on sharing economic and regional-integration perspectives with the UPSA community and engaging with local leaders.
