Two candidates from the Effutu Constituency, James Kofi Annan of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and independent candidate Louisa Buabeng, have petitioned the Winneba High Court to annul the 2024 parliamentary election results. They’re alleging irregularities and bias on the part of the Electoral Commission (EC).The petitioners are seeking the court’s intervention to overturn the results, citing unfair practices that affected the outcome of the election. This development comes after the December 7 elections, which saw Afenyo-Markin declared the winner. It’s worth noting that Louisa Buabeng, one of the petitioners, was remanded by the High Court in Winneba on November 28, 2024, on charges of conspiracy to commit a crime. However, this latest petition suggests that she’s still actively pursuing her claims related to the parliamentary election.
