Beneficiaries of RMU Scholarship Scheme pay courtesy call on Ag. Vice Chancellor

Eight beneficiaries of the Regional Maritime University (RMU) Scholarship/Financial Aid Scheme paid a courtesy call on the Acting Vice Chancellor of RMU, Dr Jethro W. Brooks Jr on Monday, June 2 in Accra.

The students, who are the first cohort to benefit from the scholarship and are set to graduate this year, expressed their gratitude to the Acting Vice Chancellor and the staff of RMU for their support in helping them successfully complete their education despite financial challenges.

Leading the group, Theodora Hayford (BSc. Port and Shipping Administration) thanked the RMU management and staff for their unwavering support. She highlighted that contributions from staff to the scholarship fund had been immensely helpful, especially for needy but brilliant students.

She added that they deeply value the opportunity given to them to pursue their academic goals and pledged to work hard to make both staff and management proud.

The other scholarship recipients include Aminata Bojang Mendy, Mariama Keira, and Sainey Bojang (all pursuing Diplomas in Electrical Engineering). The remaining students, all studying BSc. Ports and Shipping Administration, are Samuel Badu, Michael Osei Gyamfi, Delight Afidemenyo, and Emmanuel Abudey.

The Acting Vice Chancellor commended the staff for their sacrifices and contributions in supporting the students’ education. He urged the students to go out and make the university proud, serving as an inspiration for others to benefit from the fund.

Dr Brooks emphasised that the success of the scholarship programme is a testament to the university’s commitment to supporting deserving students. He encouraged the beneficiaries to take pride in their alma mater, be ambassadors of its good works and help extend the impact of the scholarship scheme.

He noted that the scholarship fund currently supports about 35 students, with the number expected to increase in the next academic year.
