Arnold Baidoo Slams Ghana Movie Awards for the ‘Papa’ award.

Ghanaian entertainment pundit Arnold Baidoo has expressed his disappointment with the recent Ghana Movie Awards, particularly criticizing the awards given to the winners. Appearing on UTV’s ‘United Showbiz’ on January 25, 2025, Baidoo ridiculed the unique plaques handed out at the 14th edition of the event—woven fans painted with the Ghana flag, mounted on a wooden base, with the recipient’s name and category engraved for visibility.

Baidoo didn’t hold back, saying, “Papa, that we use to fan fire, come on, how?” He further emphasized that while Fred Nuamah, CEO of the Ghana Movie Awards, deserves support and encouragement, the unconventional design of the awards raised concerns. “Fred needs support, encouragement—that fact cannot be disputed. If the year comes and he doesn’t get the support or funds needed to run the awards show, it’s not by force,” Baidoo added.

The 14th edition of the Ghana Movie Awards, held on January 18, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), celebrated excellence in cinema, attracting stars from both Ghana and Nigeria.
