The Akatsi North District Chief Executive, Bless Katamani, has engaged with chiefs, elders, institutions, and residents on key development issues facing the area. The grand durbar, themed “Reflection, Hope, and Progress,” highlighted several initiatives aimed at improving the district’s growth and development.
Key Development Initiatives
– Private Investment in Housing: The DCE encouraged private investors to build modern housing facilities for government workers, addressing the lack of basic facilities contributing to low revenue generation.
– Teacher Accommodation: Emphasizing the need for teacher accommodation, particularly for headmasters, to improve education standards.
– *School Feeding Programme*: Five more schools have joined the programme, aiming to enhance nutrition and education outcomes for students.
Infrastructure Development
– Local Road Improvements: Plans are underway to improve local roads after the rainy season, enhancing connectivity and accessibility within the district.
– Essential Services: Efforts are being made to bring essential services like the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), banks, and a radio station to the district.
Call to Traditional Leaders
The DCE urged traditional leaders to release land for agriculture and support tourism and resource development, including unique sites and quality rocks, to boost the local economy.
Community Engagement
