Ablekuma Central Constituency Joins Nationwide Clean-Up Exercise for National Sanitation Day

The Ablekuma Central Constituency, led by Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Frank Nkansah, recently observed National Sanitation Day with a massive clean-up exercise across the constituency. The event, held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, brought together residents, stakeholders, and government officials to promote sanitation and healthy lifestyles.

Key Figures Attend Clean-Up Exercise

Ga Mantse Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II emphasized the importance of paying critical attention to sanitation, stating, “The capital needs to improve on its sanitation lifestyle.” He urged constituents to take ownership of their environment. Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, pledged to tackle Accra’s sanitation challenges with support from Ghanaians, highlighting plans to revamp major market centers. 

Commitment to Sanitation

Hon. Frank Nkansah called on constituents to uphold sanitation standards, stressing, “We must take responsibility for our environment and work together to keep our city clean.” He revealed plans to continue promoting healthy lifestyles within the constituency, adding, “We will continue to sensitize and educate our people on the importance of sanitation and its impact on our health and well-being.”

National Sanitation Day Initiative

The National Sanitation Day exercise is a monthly initiative introduced by the government to improve sanitation and promote sustainable healthy lifestyles in the country. The Ablekuma Central Constituency’s observation demonstrates its commitment to creating a clean and healthy environment for residents. 

Government’s Efforts

President John Dramani Mahama reintroduced the National Sanitation Day exercise, focusing on improving environmental sanitation nationwide. The government has announced plans to enforce sanitation laws, with offenders facing sanctions. Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives will be held accountable for maintaining cleanliness in their areas.
