A GREAT LESSON FROM AMERICA’S MASSIVE/UNCOMPROMISED DEPORTATION

As a Risk Expert, I am fully aware of the phenomenon that everyone, globally, practises risk management consciously or unconsciously. Personal savings, establishment of more than one business, insurance of all forms, SSNIT contributions, periodic medical checkups, backups of data, of contacts, of personal information, etc. on Google, Clouds, etc. are all varying shades of risk management.

The unannounced arrival of Covid-19 should have served as a wake-up call to nations, organisations and individuals. It is on records that over 30% of businesses could not survive the menace mercilessly posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Organisations and investments have crippled, and the negative impacts of Covid-19 are still perniciously raging on.

Much as Nations, States, Organisations and powerful individuals strongly frown upon President Donald Trump’s seemingly inconsiderate and inhumane calls for drastic deportations, in his own innermost mind, he may have a justifiable reason, perhaps for AMERICA’S own Sovereign interest or some reason we may not be privy to. Whether he is right or wrong is not my prime focus momentarily. My singular objective of doing this short article is to bring into light one BIG LESSON I have learnt as a risk management expert.

Businessmen who did not properly insure their businesses or establish businesses in other states may have themselves to blame at the time the fires engulfed the entire State of Carlifornia. In the same manner, immigrants in America, who are currently facing imminent deportations, may also have begun making serious introspection whether they have done the right thing by spending decades or scores of years in America without any business establishment back home.

It is imperative and instructive to know that life is full of risks. Therefore, it is prudent that we deliberately make conscious efforts to making adequate provisions against any eventuality. Never make a foreign land your permanent home. If you had an opportunity to travel to a country of great opportunities, like America, or born in that country but your parents are not natives from there, do not make that place your permanent home. In your own native land, build houses, establish businesses and make strong network there as well. Remember that there are artificial disasters such as repatriation, deportations, civil wars, and fire outbreaks which are largely man-engineered. Though, sometimes, we find ourselves trouble-ridden in our own native land, Home Sweet Home as the saying goes. Let us always remember to come back home whenever we travel far and wide. Life is so complex that we must not take it for granted. Let us always make provision for WHAT IF… It is all about BACKUPS, BACKUPS, and BACKUPS. Someone is asking: Any backup in marriage? Yes! Prepare your psychological makeup that anything is possible so that any time you are hit with infidelity, mistrust, distrust, sudden death, divorce or separation, you are mentally prepared to confront and contain the situation.
