Prampram Chief Warns of Escalation in Afienya Land Dispute Involving Military Personnel

Asafoatse Tetteh Akroboso III of the Larkpleh family of Prampram has accused military personnel from the Shai Hills Military Camp of illegally interfering in a land dispute at Afienya, warning that continued harassment could force his people to defend their property by any means necessary.
The traditional leader alleged that soldiers have deserted their official duties to act as land guards, blocking legitimate landowners from developing their properties and carrying out repeated attacks on residents. He claimed the aggression recently caused the death of a 70-year-old man in the area.
“The Larkpleh family has court judgments confirming our ownership of this land, yet the military allows itself to be used by encroachers to intimidate us and our clients,” Asafoatse Akroboso III said. He added that complaints lodged with Afienya police have yielded no results, allowing the incidents to continue unchecked.
Appealing directly to President John Dramani Mahama and the Ministry of the Interior, the Asafoatse called for immediate intervention to stop what he described as unlawful military operations in the area.
“We have the men to confront the military over our land, but we have chosen not to take the law into our own hands,” he stated. “We will not sit idly while outsiders forcibly seize properties our ancestors legitimately acquired many years ago for our family.”
Asafoatse Akroboso III warned that unless swift action is taken, the family stands ready to defend their rights, even if it means direct confrontation with the military personnel involved.
