Important News for Pensioners: Don’t Forget to Renew Your SSNIT Certificate

Starting January 1, 2026, the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) is introducing an important new rule for all pensioners: you must renew your Pensioner Certificate once every year.

This new rule is simple: you need to complete the renewal during the month you were born.
Why the Change?
SSNIT says this new annual check-up will help make sure that pension payments are accurate, secure, and only go to the right people. It is a way to keep their records up-to-date and improve their service.

How to Renew (It’s Easy!):
SSNIT has provided several simple ways for you to renew your certificate:
On Your Phone: Use the SSNIT Mobile App to complete a quick facial verification check.

In Person: Visit any SSNIT branch across the country for a simple fingerprint (biometric) verification.

Help is Available for Everyone:
SSNIT has made special arrangements to make sure no one misses out:
For Pensioners Living Abroad (Non-residents): You can renew digitally using the Mobile App or by filling out a special Fingerprint ID Form (FIF).
For Those with Difficulty Moving: SSNIT will send someone to your home to help you complete the verification.
For Those Without Access to Smart Phones/Internet: You can still visit any SSNIT branch for assistance.

Don’t Miss Your Deadline!
SSNIT will send you reminders two months before your birthday month via text message or email.
A crucial note: If you fail to renew your certificate during your designated birth month, your monthly pension payments will be temporarily stopped until you complete the renewal.
