Mr. Afadzinu will continue to lead the International Table Tennis Federation’s sustainability initiatives for a new four-year term, following the successful completion of his initial two-year tenure.

His re-election took place during the Annual General Meeting of the ITTF, held online on 15th November 2025.

The re-elected Chairman will continue working alongside the full members of the Sustainability Committee, which includes representatives from across the world: Ms. Janette Fitzgerald – Australia (Oceania), Mr. Daniel Valero Tuinenburg – Spain (Europe), Mr. Yue Ka Kuen, Alexander – Hong Kong, China (Asia), Mr. Martin Perry – Scotland (Europe), Ms. Majd Albalooshi – United Arab Emirates (Asia).

This achievement once again places Ghana firmly on the global map, showcasing the nation’s ability to produce world-class resource personnel whose expertise continues to shape and influence the development of table tennis at the highest international levels.

Under Mawuko Afadzinu’s leadership, table tennis in Ghana and Africa has seen significant progress. As President of the Ghana Table Tennis Association, he has strengthened the federation’s structure and enhanced capacity by developing more skilled coaches, umpires, and administrators, ensuring the sport is professionally managed at all levels.

He also secured major sponsorships, such as the Stag International deal, providing high-quality tables, balls, and equipment that revitalized training and competition in Ghana.

Through youth development programs and scholarships, promising players have gained support for both their education and sporting careers, a notable example is the ongoing training tour in which Ghanaian rising star Israel Aklie is participating.

On the continental stage, as Executive Vice President (Marketing) of the African Table Tennis Federation, he has promoted investment, advocated for youth empowerment, and supported initiatives to grow the sport across Africa.

Additionally, his historic election to the ITTF board marked the first time a Ghanaian has held such a position, giving the nation a stronger voice in global table tennis governance.

During his tenure as Chairman, the Sustainability Committee has made positive contributions toward advancing the ITTF’s sustainability agenda.

Notable developments, such as the publication of the Planet Action Plan, sustainability training for Member Associations, and the establishment of forums and initiatives on eco-friendly event management and responsible equipment production, have created a clear roadmap for the sport’s environmentally conscious and socially responsible growth.

His continued leadership is expected to accelerate the ITTF’s long-term mission of shaping table tennis into a model sport for environmental stewardship, community development, and sustainable growth.
