A new 20-seater lavatory has been commissioned at the Chemunaa Cluster of Schools in Chorkor, Accra, as part of efforts to improve sanitation and hygiene in the area

The facility, built with a modern borehole, was unveiled on World Toilet Day, November 19, in the presence of local chiefs, education stakeholders, and representatives from Prudential Life Insurance and United Way Ghana.

Accra Metro Director of Education, Justine Apawu, revealed that the lack of adequate toilet facilities had led to pupils leaving school premises to ease themselves, resulting in empty classrooms. She appealed for security measures to protect the facility.

The facility is expected to improve health and education outcomes for pupils and teachers. The Director of United Way Ghana, Faustina Abbey, praised Pru Life’s efforts in addressing societal issues, including access to sanitation.

Pru Life’s CEO stated that the facility is part of their commitment to building resilient communities and promoting education and health resilience.
