Gomoa Fetteh Has No Claim to Kasoa, Papaase, Akweley – Nai Atopi Kwashie Abbey VII Affirms

Nai Atopi Kwashie Abbey VII, Chief of Kwashie Abbey and Mponuahene of the Awutu Traditional Area, has rejected claims that Kasoa, Ofaakor Papaase No. 1, Papaase No. 2 and Akweley fall under the jurisdiction of Gomoa Fetteh.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, November, 5, 2025 at the Kasoa Odupong Ofaakor Palace, Nai Atopi said the communities are part of Awutu Ofaakor lands and do not answer to Gomoa Fetteh.

He told residents to ignore a recent directive from the Sumankwahene of Gomoa Fetteh, Nana Adama Amoaquandoh, which bans drumming and other noise-making from November 6 to 28, 2025.

“The people of Kasoa Ofaakor, Papaase, and Akweley are not under the Gomoa Fetteh Stool, so they should feel free to go about their normal activities, including drumming and noise-making,” Nai Atopi stated.

Nai Atopi warned against intimidation by people claiming authority from Gomoa Fetteh, calling such actions an overreach. As Chief of Awutu Kwashie Abbey and Boundary Chief of the Awutu Traditional Council, he said anyone who tries to enforce the ban inside Kasoa Ofaakor and neighboring areas should be treated as a trespasser.

He also urged churches and residents to report attempts to seize instruments or disrupt events to the police, describing those individuals as “acting unlawfully and should be treated as thieves.”
