As part of the drive to make Ghana the economic powerhouse of Africa, by the Year 2040, Mr Alan Kyerematen, Founder and Interim Leader of United Party has unveiled his party at a media launch in Accra.
The party branded as the paradise project seeks to build a united peaceful, secure and prosperous country that provides equal opportunity for all Ghanaians to realize their full potential in relations to the youth, women and other vulnerable groups.
Speaking at the media launch, Mr. Alan Kyerematen, said the party will promote integrity and ethical leadership at all levels of national endeavor and introduce also a culture of discipline or aspect of national life.
” it will enforce law and other and respect for the rule of law as well as promote , good work ethics and passion for excellence by ensuring tolerance for diversity of opinions and introducing decency in public discourse”, he said.
He added that the party will instill patriotism among Ghanaians and promote free speech and freedom of association and cultural values and traditions, fight against dictatorship, oppression and subversion of human rights as well as for unleashing the entrepreneurial spirits of the Ghanaian.
According to him, the party values are based on the original UP tradition which evolved under the new UP into a Centrist party to accommodate people of different political persuasions, adding that the party will promote a market based economy with limited regulations.
” The Great Transformation plan under the Movement of changes sets out a clear and comprehensive the role of the party blueprints for social-economic transformation of the country”, he said.
The policy blueprint includes stabilizing the macroeconomy by reducing debt levels and maintaining a stable currency and reducing interest rate as well as taming inflation and consistently retaining single digit inflation, reducing the size of government and eliminating waste.
According to him, the party will prioritize the development of the ten strategic anchore industries by making the country the new manufacturing hub for Africa and the party again promotes the development of cash crops through agriculture and reduce imports and leverage non-traditional exports.
On education, Mr. Kyerematen said then future of education will shift from the acquisition of theoretical knowledge to practical knowledge based on competencies and skills.
” the UP party will introduce universal health coverage with focus on preventive health, primary healthcare, tertiary specialist care and traditional and herbal medicine”, he added, saying the party will deliver low income housing will be priority of the party.
