McDan Pledges 10,000 Jobs for Ga Youth Through “McDan Jobs” Initiative

Businessman and entrepreneur Daniel McKorley has pledged to create 10,000 jobs for young people in the Ga area through an employment drive he calls “McDan Jobs.”

Speaking at the Ga Youth Forum on Wednesday, Mr. McKorley said the initiative is aimed at moving beyond rhetoric and delivering tangible opportunities for the region’s unemployed youth. “The talking is too much. What are we doing for ourselves?” he told a packed hall, calling for practical action to change livelihoods.

Mr. McKorley described McDan Jobs as a programme “solely focused on giving jobs to people and changing the status of lives of people,” and said the intervention will prioritise placements and skills development for young people across the Ga area. He did not, however, give a full timeline or detailed breakdown of how the 10,000 positions will be created, saying further information would be released in the coming weeks.

The forum, attended by Chiefs, Queen Mothers, students, young professionals and community leaders, provided a platform for discussion on youth unemployment and local development. Organisers said the event aimed to gather ideas and forge partnerships that could support large-scale employment initiatives.

Mr. McKorley, who is known for his business interests and philanthropic activities, urged youth to take ownership of their future and to engage with the forthcoming programme. “We must stop waiting for others to solve our problems; we must build our own opportunities,” he said.

Organisers of the Ga Youth Forum said they welcome the pledge and will work with stakeholders to ensure transparency and measurable outcomes. Details on application procedures and project partners for McDan Jobs are expected to be announced soon.
