REMEMBERING THE INSPIRATIONAL  ALHAJI BIMBO OF BLESSED MEMORY:  18 YEARS ON

Mohammed Amin Lamptey with a special tribute:

What do I begin to say on this remembrance day since you passed away exactly 18 years ago and left me and your loved ones in a state of reflecting on your immeasurable love, generosity, kindness, patience and respect for all.

Hajj Bimbo, your laughter and humour still permeates my heart. Your spirit lives on and serves as a guiding light in my life.

Hajj Bimbo, out of love for humans and the youth around the Zongo communities, you founded Mamobi Youth FC and later converted it to Midtjyland FC-Mamobi after an historic partnership with Mitdjyland FC in Sweden.

Hajj Bimbo, I can vividly remember what you told me before you were emplaned to Germany for medical checkups, and some few days before your demise, the message you churned out that sounded predictable that the last hour was approaching.

Hajj Bimbo, you finally responded to an inevitable invitation from Allah on Tuesday, August 23,200.The news shaked  the foundation of not only Mamobi-Nima but the entire country Ghana and across other Africa countries.

I was awashed with numerous messages and phone calls across the globe for confirmation and clarification. Automatically, as the spokesperson for your club, I was appointed the family spokesperson to help handle communication and the funeral process.

Hajj Bimbo, you were repatriated to Ghana on Sunday, August 26,2007, and the burial process took place in your mother’s room at Mamobi with so much pain, heavy hearts, and  confused minds.

On Monday, August 27, the moment of truth greeted me, and many of your  loved ones who responded to the call to help in your burial process. The crowd I witnessed on this faithful day was unbelievable, unprecedented and mind-boggling.

Hajj Bimbo, for the first time in the history of our community, your loved ones never allowed the ambulance to drive you through the streets to the Muslim cemetery at East Legon, but rather carried your blessed body on their shoulders and walked from Mamobi to East Legon. This was unprecedented.

Hajj Bimbo, every single day, I  celebrate you in my life because of your inspiring impact on my life as a footballer, school-dropout, school returnee, sports journalist, sports commentator, boxing ring announcer and now a lecturer  with over 8 years  experience.

Hajj Bimbo, you’ve been credited with my upbringing as a public figure, a seasoned sports journalist, and now a lecturer, as well as for the support you have given to  several players, coaches, sports journalists, football

administrators and agents.

The tall list of players who went through your hands, both local and foreign based, included  2005 Ghana premier league goal king and former Black stars striker, Prince Tagoe, former Black Stars goal poacher, Razak Bimpong, 2006 Ghana premier league best player, Kweku Essien, former Black Stars dependable defenders Issah Ahmed, Issac Vorsah, Abdul Fatahu Bance, Abdul Aziz Kalipo, Abdul Razak Salifu (former Ghana U17 player) ,Christian Ampeh and many others.

Hajj Bimbo, memories of you bring to mind inspiration, love, generosity, kindness,

respect, sympathy, affability, and communication network among sports stakeholders.

Hajj Bimbo, your personality traits and values are just incomparable in any comparative analysis I have tried to do.

Hajj Bimbo, you paid for my school fees and bought me a number of suits, especially when I won the Mamobi East electoral area elections and became an assembly member. At a point you asked me to slow down on my ambition to become an MP for logical reasons.

Hajj Bimbo, you actually touched the lives of known and unknown family members, friends, loved ones, and our community to the best of your ability. You’ve made all of us unique in our various ways.Your memories continue to inspire and guide me and others to live in your footsteps to help immortalised your traits, personality, legacy, and generosity

Hajj Bimbo, your light continues to shine, a gift I carry with myself always. I always pray to Allah to help me remember you all the time to solidify your unique qualities and accomplishments and the spirit of sharing

Hajj Bimbo, you have left behind a solid legacy that can’t be erased. I will continue to celebrate the positive influences you had on me and the enduring love that continues to shape me and those who benefited from your inspiration and guidance.

Hajj Bimbo, as a former member of the Black Meteos management committee, I can at this juncture wipe the tears flowing down my chicks to wholeheartedly thank the management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the handlers of Black Meteors at the time for the memorial game in your honour. The game which  took place at the El-Walk Stadium, was sanctioned by the Ghana Football Association(GFA).

Ladies and gentlemen, I respectfully invite you to kindly remember Alhaji Mohammed Musah, aka Alhaji Bimbo, the founder and bankroller of Mitdjyland FC-Mamobi a third divison side in your prayers.

In 2023, I organised a special memorial gathering(Lecture) at the National Mosque, Kanda, in honour of both Hajj Bimbo and my blessed  mother, Hajia Fati(of blessed memory). Plans  are being put in place to celebrate and honour him for the 20 years of his demise, with a special football gala and memorial gathering (lecture), Insha Allah.

May the souls of all our departed persons rest in perfect peace.
